Yahoo`s CEO discharged
Yesterday Yahoo Inc.`s board ousted Chief Executive Carol Bartz. Stock exchange responded immediately - Yahoo`s stock jumped more than 6%.
Hired 2,5 years ago Bartz was expected to bring Yahoo` s service back to position occupied early last decade. 10 years ago Yahoo was the most popular search engine. But it has lost ground to Google in recent years. Moreover, online advertisement market, has been taken away by social network Facebook and by Google.
The number of minutes that U.S. website visitors spend on Yahoo sites per month has dropped 33% since Ms. Bartz`s arrival 2,5 years ago and revenue has been largely flat.
